The Land of Fire and Ice, named for its active volcanoes and glacial formations, is known for its dramatic terrains, stunning waterfalls, and of course, the Northern Lights. Iceland is a must-see destination with extraordinary landscapes and spectacular views, but planning your trip there can be a daunting task. This lecture will provide the essential knowledge that will take the stress out of organizing your Icelandic adventure.
Meet Your Expert
Ryan

Ryan Connolly is a Scottish-born, permanent resident of Iceland. After stepping foot on all 7 continents in 2016, he used his expertise in exploration and nature to set up Hidden Iceland, one of the highest rated tour companies in Iceland on Tripadvisor. Ryan's expertise in glacier exploration and survival makes him ideal to share his adopted homeland with you. He is a Wilderness First Responder and holds qualifications in Glacier Exploration (Joklar 2) as well as having 100s of days of guided outdoor exploration in snow, ice, rock and mountainous terrain.

There are inevitable questions over itineraries; how many days should I spend in Reykjavik versus out in the wilderness, and what time of year is best to go? There are practicalities to consider such as how to comfortably travel around the country and what each remote excursion costs so you can work out a travel budget. Not to mention the potential language barrier. Kanntu íslensku? In this lecture, we'll cover everything you need to know before your Icelandic adventure, including local customs, hiking trails, weather, must-see locations, border restrictions, food and drink, and sustainable travel.

Led by Ryan Connolly, the co-owner of Hidden Iceland boutique travel company, this lecture will provide essential pre-trip knowledge, including where to go, when to go, and how to make friends with the locals when you get there. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away confident of a successful premier adventure in the land of fire and ice.
